Hong Kong

16/17 April 2007

overcast 25 °C

Hi All,
Well we made it to Hong Kong. The trip was pleasant. Good movies for Sandy so she managed to watch 3 and part of a 4th. A record I think.
Hong Kong is a very busy place. It took a while to get use to the pace and number of people. We have done lots of walking. Yesterday we walked to the ferry terminal and caught the ferry to Central. Then we caught a bus to the tram that takes you to the top of Victoria Peak. While the ride up was a bit scarey - very steep climb the trip was worth it as the views were spectacular. At the top there is a viewing platform. We had a drink and something to eat while soaking up the view. That night we walked down to the Cultural Centre at the harbour and watched the "A Symphony of Lights". Finally we walked back to the hotel and fell into bed.
Today we had planned to go and see The Giant Budha on Lantau Island but it was more than a 4 hour trip and we didn't have the time so instead we went to Cheung Chau Island. That showed us a bit more of the real life of the Chinese. A great exprience.
We catch a coach to the airport tonight. Our plane leaves for Rome just after midnight.
Speak to you from Rome.

Sandy and Phil's Adventure

One week to go!

semi-overcast 24 °C

This is a trial run to develop our skills so we can share our journey with you while we are away.
When planning the trip we thought Easter would be a good time to relax, pack and do any last minute things. What a mistake!! For both of us life has been very hectic and while we are getting excited there hasn't been much time to think about the trip, other than thinking about where we will be sleeping in Hong Kong (1st stop over) and Rome (2nd stop over). Phil is a little worried that we are currently homeless in Rome! What an adventure he will be having.
Phil spent the day at work on Good Friday trying to catch up on last minute things and write a report or 2!!
Sandy spent the day organising a folder for the teacher who will take her class next term - still no decision made.
Sunday we head to Peterborough for lunch with Madge. SJ is making the trip with us but unfortunately Jen has to work.
Monday a good friend turns 50 so we will be spending the afternoon celebrating with her and then its back to work for 4 days.
We depart Adelaide 11:00am Sunday the 15th April and return 17th June.
Bon Voyage!
